Full statistics and article, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.virginia.gov\/library\/enforcement\/pdfs\/quarterly-reports\/virginia-abc-quarterly-report-2019-1st-qtr.pdf?la=en\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UAB alcohol checks showed a decrease of 61% this quarter when compared to the previous quarter. The compliance rate was 84%. How did the Virginia ABC come up with these statistics? Virginia ABC Special Agents visit restaurants and stores all over Virginia \u2013 and they send in Underage Buyers to try to buy alcohol. &nbsp;Because Underage sales are illegal and because Underage sales happen! They happen because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>your\nemployees feel a pressure to hurry (especially when the restaurant is very\nbusy)<\/li><li>your\nemployee feels cornered by a pushy customer<\/li><li>your\nemployee has a general lack of attention to detail<\/li><li>your\nemployee has a lack of knowledge <\/li><li>your\nemployee simple doesn\u2019t care \u2013 in other words: there is no \u201creason\u201d for them to\ntake the extra step. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This last one? The fact that your employee doesn\u2019t \u2018care?\u2019&nbsp; This is the easiest one to fix. Have them take our training \u2013 they\u2019ll care! Because each of your employees needs to understand what HAPPENS when they are caught serving a minor and how much it can hurt your business and them, personally. Serving a person under 21 years old is a Class 1 Misdemeanor and can result in $2,500 fines and\/or 12 months in jail! They\u2019ll lose work hours from court time and they\u2019ll have a criminal record for the REST of their lives. Just for being lazy and\/or untrained. Those repercussions are for them, personally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The repercussions for <strong>you <\/strong>and <strong>your business <\/strong>are heavy fines and you can have your license suspended or revoked. There can even be civil penalties against the establishment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The better way to being lazy and uninformed is to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toastalcohol.com\/\">trained<\/a>.\u00a0 This better way (and cheaper and easier way) keeps you both out of jail and out of trouble with <em>Va dept. of Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority<\/em>.
