Alcohol Licenses, business registrations and Virginia\nlottery permits are issued by the government and allow you to legally conduct\nbusiness \u2013 and if you don\u2019t fill out the paperwork correctly or apply for the\nwrong type of license, it could hold up the licensing. You also could end up\nhaving to appeal, attend a hearing to fight for your license. We have a long-standing\nConsulting Client that applied for a wine and beer off-premises store license.\nWe ended up in court, with them. Can you imagine doing that on your own? The\nclient was so grateful for the support. Application Hearing’s will delay license issuance and in some\ncases result in a restricted license or even license denial. In this case,\ndespite efforts of mediation with civic-league opposition, the client and ABC Consulting Alcohol Licensing Compliance Training\nproceeded to a VA ABC Authority Hearing. As you can from the photo, above, the room\nis filled with objectors (and supporters) of the alcohol license. Generally, hearings to resolve alleged\nviolation(s) of the Virginia ABC Act and\/or Virginia ABC\u2019s Regulations take\nplace at the appropriate Virginia ABC regional office. In some circumstances (significant\npublic interest) a local governmental facility may be utilized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. We recommend\njoining your local civic league to ensure that your business plan is in line\nwith the civic league’s community plan. <\/li>
  2. Administrative hearings are generally of two\ntypes: (1) Application\u2014to obtain an ABC license, and (2) Disciplinary\u2014to\ndetermine whether a licensee has violated one or more ABC laws and regulations.\nWe can assist with either type. <\/li>
  3. We help you\nprepare. Preparing for a hearing is far more than just showing up and giving\nopinions. Do your homework, bring facts, bring witnesses and if you wish to\nretain legal counsel it is highly recommended. We work with your legal counsel\nor you can use our recommended attorney. <\/li>
  4. We understand\nthe ABCs of an ABC Hearing (what and when evidence should be submitted,\ndesignating a spokesperson) <\/li>
  5. We are\nconfident enough about the process to help you speak loud and very slowly (so\nthe court reporter captures your testimony accurately). <\/li>
  6. We’ll help\nyou speak to the Hearing Officer (not to the audience in the hearing room). The\nhearing officer conducts the hearing in a fair and impartial manner, while\nassuring that all relevant and material information is presented in order to\nmake a reasoned decision.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
