{"id":16875,"date":"2021-06-28T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-28T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/?p=16875"},"modified":"2022-08-25T02:34:51","modified_gmt":"2022-08-25T02:34:51","slug":"can-your-bb-serve-alcohol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/can-your-bb-serve-alcohol\/","title":{"rendered":"Can your B&#038;B serve alcohol?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In order to be granted a bed &amp; breakfast alcohol license, an establishment\nmust: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>consist of no more than 15 bedrooms available for rent,  <\/li><li>offer transitory lodging (or non-permanent sleeping accommodations) to the public, in exchange for compensation, <\/li><li>and offer at least one meal per day (does not need not be breakfast) to each person to whom overnight lodging is provided <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"694\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/BB-694x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/BB-694x1024.png 694w, https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/BB-203x300.png 203w, https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/BB-768x1134.png 768w, https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/BB-600x886.png 600w, https:\/\/vaabc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/BB.png 1260w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><figcaption>B&amp;B Alcohol Serving Guidelines<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Restrictions &amp; Conditions: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><em><strong>Where <\/strong><\/em>you purchase your alcohol that you plan to sell is also important.<ul><li>it must be purchased from a government store, wine or beer wholesaler or farm winery.&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>you must keep purchase receipts. <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Alcoholic beverages may be served: <ul><li>only to overnight guests (over legal drinking age),<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>in dining areas,<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>in private guest rooms, <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>or in outside terraces or patios.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>No additional fees, premiums or surcharges, are allowed be charged for the service of alcoholic beverages. <\/li><li>Guests making reservations may order any alcohol beverage to be available upon their arrival (at no additional fee above the purchase price).&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Organization is key:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Alcohol inventory for your B&amp;B must be stored away from any private alcohol stock (always keep personal alcohol stored separately). <\/li><li>Maintain complete and accurate records of the purchases of alcoholic beverages and provide sufficient evidence that at least one meal per day is offered to overnight guests. <\/li><li>As a business owner, it\u2019s your responsibility to be in complete compliance of the law.
