All girls love the man on his knee, in a private location, while she looks pretty \u2013 but before you pop the question, make sure that you know what women DON&#8217;T want to live through as the \u201cengagement story.\u201d She will have to tell and retell her story; make sure it is picture perfect. After all, we gals love to hear the story of the proposal \u2013 so make it romantic, memorable and not \u2026 ahem \u2026 embarrassing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"fall wedding planning (let&#039;s do this together) ABC Consulting\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V_b5KMcN7tQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Don\u2019t surround the proposal by complete strangers, a sport\u2019s event, your family, or her workplace. This is between the two of you and should be presented in a place where you can speak from your heart.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t EVER do this over the phone, through email or remotely. You need to be able to see her eyes, embrace her, and \u2013 again \u2013 as an intimate, special moment between the two of you.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t propose at someone else\u2019s celebration. First off, she needs to have the moment to herself. Second of all \u2013 it appears that you were pushed over the edge because of the emotion that you are feeling from the other event, not your feelings for her.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t use humor to propose \u2013 of course you should propose as yourself and humor can add a personal element to this moment \u2013 but please limit humor and remember that it is romance that she\u2019ll want to remember.<\/li><li>My final tip is that you should really have thought this over, have a ring (even if it is modest), spoken to dad if appropriate, and have flowers or champagne waiting.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is to the hope that she says \u201cyes!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While we are talking about getting married, if you are having a reception after the ceremony, and you are serving alcohol, make sure you are legal there, too.
