Crystal E. Stump is founder and CEO of ABC Consulting. Ms. Stump has licensed over 1,000 licensees and trained over 5,000 people in the alcohol industry. These numbers continue to increase everyday. Crystal’s expertise in the realm of state and federal regulations is unmatched. Educating the alcohol licensee is Crystal’s everyday driving force. Ensuring licensees are aware of the ever-changing alcohol regulations motivates her to stay current and involved with her clients. Crystal’s personal reward and purpose is celebrating clients’ business successes.

Ms. Stump was born and raised in Southwest VA in the small county of Tazewell. While attending high school, she began working for the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (VA ABC) Enforcement Division as an Under Age Buyer. Crystal was responsible for testing licensed establishments by attempting to make purchases of alcohol. After high school she attended Bluefield College, earning a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. In the course of her senior year of college, she was selected for and attended the Southwest Law Enforcement Academy located in Bristol, VA. After completing the police academy and her final semester of college, Ms. Stump was selected as a Special Agent for the Enforcement Division of VA ABC. In the following years she worked in virtually every aspect of ABC enforcement operations affecting the licensee community including application investigations, underage buyer operations, audits, inspections, surveillance, criminal court proceedings, and administrative hearings.

Ms. Stump left VA ABC in 2009 to create ABC Consulting. She now utilizes her expertise as a former Special Agent to provide sophisticated consulting services related to licensing, hearings and appeals, inspections, compliance, training, and numerous other areas that affect the alcohol licensee community throughout Virginia.

Over a decade ago, Ms. Stump developed a comprehensive training program for Virginia alcohol sellers and servers, "The Operational Alcohol Standards Training of Virginia" (T.O.A.S.T. VA), which received approval for state certification by the Board of the VA ABC. Since then TOAST Academy has been established and currently offers three state approved training courses. TOAST VA, Brew VA, and Wine VA. The completions of these training courses are paramount in business’s success.

Kevin Anderson, a Virginia Dept. of Alcoholic Beverage Control Special Agent in his past career, brings years of expertise to the alcohol industry. His tireless work was recognized in 2019 and he is honored to be named one of the ‘100 People to Meet in 2020’ by Virginia Business.
His enthusiastic attitude affords him successful relationships with clients across Virginia as well as in over 20 other states. He works tirelessly for our Retail and Industry clients, ensuring quick license approval, education of the alcohol regulations, and strategic compliance regarding but not limited to excise tax, operational reports, audit assistance, label approvals, record keeping, MBAR's, and hearing preparation.

Kevin began working for the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control in his high school years as an "Under Age Buyer," responsible for testing licensed establishments by attempting to make purchases of alcohol. Kevin attended George Mason University, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree, and later obtained a Graduate Degree from the University of Massachusetts. After college, Kevin began his career as a Tobacco Revenue Agent/Investigator in the Northern Virginia region. He then was hired by the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control as a Special Agent and attended the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in Lynchburg, VA.

Mr. Anderson was instrumental in taking our Virginia ABC certified T.O.A.S.T. VA® seller/server training to the next level. He worked diligently to bring the only state certified brewery and winery specific seller/server training to Virginia. Brew VA™ and Wine VA™ are now available online along with T.O.A.S.T. VA®.

Natasha has been providing expert alcohol licensing consulting with ABC Consulting since 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, with a concentration in Exercise Leadership, from James Madison University. Directly following the completion of her education, she entered the customer service field for both for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations (including the American Red Cross). Her professional skill set allows Natasha to serve the alcohol licensee community with utmost customer care due to her extensive knowledge of the licensing process, attention to detail, effective communication, and problem solving skills. Natasha has the ability to create positive relationships with our clients and also state/federal agency employees, allowing the licensing process to go as smoothly as possible for all parties involved. She thrives at being a technical professional, and the ABC Consulting team utilizes her technical abilities for additional functions outside of her day-to-day licensing agenda.

Natasha is a long-term resident of Hampton Roads, Virginia. She has a solid reputation in the local area and is actively involved with her Home Owners Association as Social Committee Chairperson and community ambassador.

Kelly Walker

Kelly Walker is an Alcohol Consultant at ABC Consulting. Kelly’s responsibilities include but are not limited to training and consulting with VA alcohol licensees. Ms. Walker joins the team with a great deal of experience in the hospitality industry. She attended Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC where she acquired a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Hospitality and Event Management. Kelly has worked in the restaurant and event industry for over a decade. As a result of her education and years of experience, she has in-depth knowledge of how restaurants operate. Kelly has a great understanding and appreciation of an employee’s point of view and how detrimental they are to the success of a business. Upon completion of her education, Kelly accepted a position as Academy, Marketing, and Events Manager at a DC golf course. With her management background, Ms. Walker has solid experience regarding VA ABC regulations such as a record keeping, licensing, sales and inventory requirements among many other areas.

Kelly grew up in the Northern Virginia area where she ambitiously played field hockey and lacrosse in addition to her restaurant employment, all while attending school. At a young age she recognized that the hospitality industry would be her career focus.

Kelly spends her free time volunteering as a local field hockey coach for a high school varsity team and a local youth team.

Brenda Stump

Brenda Stump is excited to bring her accounting expertise to the ABC Consulting team as Chief Financial Officer. She has vast experience in the finance field due to past professional roles in Account Management and serving as Chief Financial Officer for her own businesses: "Clinch Valley Private Investigations" and "William Stump & Associates Surveillance Cameras."  Her attention to detail regarding finances, billing, and account management are crucial contributing factors to the success of ABC Consulting.

When Brenda is not calculating numbers she enjoys riding motorcycles, exploring the outdoors, and vacationing with her family. She also recently celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary.

Jerry Wages, joins the ABC Consulting team as a retired Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) Chief with over 20 years of experience. His reputation in providing an efficient and detailed approval process, in addition to his extensive knowledge of regulations and laws, have successfully allowed him to process applications efficiently. Jerry was instrumental in the development of the TTB permits online system, PONL, and he also has much experience with tax and labeling.
