Do you need Event Insurance?

Here are a couple of ToDo’s that you didn’t know you needed to do, when you said “I Will Marry You!”

  1. Getting an alcohol license (we have discussed this one before).
  2. Get event insurance.

Obviously, like you, we don’t want ANYTHING to go wrong the day of your wedding – nothing should stop your day from being perfect. Not to be Debbie Downer, but things DO go wrong, sometimes horribly wrong in the alcohol insurance world. Because of unforeseen circumstances, neighborhood associations that don’t want a new convenience store, mother nature, and pandemics, ABC Consulting has experts that we work with, all of the time. Occasionally, we will highlight a particular wedding planner, venue, caterer, or restaurant, and today, we’ll highlight an event insurer.

Yes, wedding insurance IS important, because let’s be honest: weddings come with very high price tags. And you should be financially protected. Unplanned situations happen, circumstances that you didn’t see coming happen – and with all the details planned, it can be any one of them that brings down the circus tent, at the critical moment. Even though we are hoping for each and every wedding to go smoothly and perfectly, in 2021, there is the potential for big things to go wrong. Like a pandemic, for instance! (Don’t forget in your plans, that the expected number of guests must align with Governor Order Restrictions).

Let us give you some examples of things you might insure, for:

  • High-dollar deposit loss, if a bridal-dress or formal-wear shop suddenly closes
  • An unexpected weather event makes the wedding have to be postponed
  • An unexpected pandemic occurs and all big gatherings are prohibited
  • Unforeseen weather makes the wedding have to move their reception location
  • A no-show photographer
  • Ruined or lost photographs
  • Damaged or missing gifts
  • Special attire mishaps
  • Lost jewelry

Wedding Insurance is important to protect yourself and the venue during your big day.  Virginia Insurance Services protects your peace of mind so that you can truly enjoy your special day, no matter what happens. Having wedding insurance in place helps protect against additional costs of cancellation, moving, a last-minute change in venue or date, damage to gifts or attire. Liability insurance protects couples from being fined or sued. Virginia Insurance Services offers event / wedding insurance… in differing amounts – from a general liability policy to a more detailed policy, which insures attire, rings, gifts, and photographs. And this is a fact that you might not have known: most venues require you to purchase a liability policy. This protects the venue (and yourself) in case a guest is injured or causes damage to the property. Either policy is reasonable compared to the catastrophe that could actually happen. Just think of the debacle that was 2020. All those poor brides. Our heart breaks and we are happy to see so many wedding and banquet licenses coming across our desk as things are beginning to reopen. Just consider this: you would insure a high-dollar vehicle, without hesitation! Wedding Insurance is just as important. We recommend that you give Opal a shout! And don’t forget that your alcohol license approval will take approximately 14 days so submit your online form as soon as possible to prevent license approval delays.
