Governor Northam relaxing COVID-19 restrictions, in March

Earlier today, February 24, 2021, Governor Ralph Northam announced that he was relaxing restrictions related to COVID-19. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2021. Below, find changes specific to hospitality and tourism and you, our client!

  • The Governor announced that he is pushing the alcohol sales curfew back from 10 p.m. to midnight.
  • The Governor is lifting the curfew that has been in place (that restricts travel between midnight and 5 a.m.).
  • The Governor is increasing the limits on outdoor social gatherings, from a 10-person limit to a 25-person limit.
  • The Governor is allowing outdoor entertainment venues to have their capacity limits increase to 30% (or 1000 people, whichever is less).
  • NOTE: Indoor entertainment venues will continue to have 30% capacity limit (or 250 people, whichever is less).

If current trends continue, Governor Northam mentioned they will be relaxing other restrictions, towards the end of March.
