Crystal Stump’s birthday!
How cool is that the year that ABC Consulting Alcohol Licensing Compliance Training was formed (2009), Crystal dreamed of adding someone JUST like Kevin to our organization. He called, out of the blue, around the 4th of July – this consulting organization has been exploding, ever since! Together, the brains and brawn and teamwork of these two continues to grow the business, exponentially. Each and every year, we give thanks for these two:
Crystal E. Stump is CEO and Senior Consultant at ABC Consulting. Born and raised in Tazewell, Virginia, she began working for VA ABC, while still in high school. While still in high school, Ms. Stump began working for the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (VA ABC) Enforcement Division as an Under-Age Buyer. This position made her responsible for testing licensed establishments by attempting to make purchases of alcohol. After high school she attended Bluefield College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. During her senior year, she was selected for and attended the Southwest Law Enforcement Academy located in Bristol, VA. After completing the police academy and her final semester of college, Ms. Stump was selected as a Special Agent for the Enforcement Division of VA ABC. In the following years she worked in virtually every aspect of ABC enforcement operations affecting the licensee community including application investigations, underage buyer operations, audits, inspections, surveillance, criminal court proceedings, and administrative hearings. Ms. Stump knows volumes of information pertaining to licensing, training and enforcement. Virtually every aspect of ABC enforcement is part of her business, ABC Consulting.
Dissatisfied with the accuracy and real-world practicality of the other training programs in the state of Virginia, Ms. Stump developed a comprehensive training program for Virginia alcohol sellers and servers, “The Operational Alcohol Standards Training of Virginia” (T.O.A.S.T. VA) – available online and on site.
Kevin Anderson was born and raised in Northern Virginia, where he currently resides with his wife and daughter. As with Crystal, Kevin began working for the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control in his high school years as an “Under-Age Buyer,” responsible for testing licensed establishments by attempting to make purchases of alcohol. Kevin attended George Mason University, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice, and later obtained a Graduate Degree from the University of Massachusetts. Throughout college, Kevin worked as a private investigator and was later hired as a Tobacco Revenue Agent in the Northern Virginia region. He then was hired by the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control as a Special Agent and attended the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in Lynchburg, VA.
ABC Consulting continues to improve because of experience and team members like these! We continue to improve upon the methods for gathering data, smoothing the application process, presenting compliance education, and consulting with retail clients through the appeal process or inspections. We have licensed 1,000s of alcohol licenses and these two have trained over 5,000 individuals!
How will these two celebrate their birthdays? Crystal loves sparkling wines! She has a very special collection of sparkling wines that friends and family have given her, over the years. They are her favorites, mainly for the experience (the pretty glasses, the bubbles, the feeling like every glass is a celebration!). Hopefully Kevin and Crystal will be raising a glass of bubbly, today – Happy Birthday to Kevin & Crystal.
