Franklin’s American Tavern is a current-day restaurant and bar showing reverence to and celebrating the original American taverns where our founding fathers ate, drank, and planned our freedom from tyranny!! It is only fitting that the flagship location would be in Virginia, the first colony, and hence, the birthplace of American food. Our founding fathers were, in fact, the founding foodies! B. Franklin’s American Tavern is open today, for Memorial Day!

On the regular menu, you will soon find George Washington’s favorites (cherry tart, roast beef and porter ale), Thomas Jefferson’s favorites (Gumbo, Cornish game hens, and mac and cheese) and of course some healthy food, thanks to their namesake… Ben Franklin, as he was… surprise… a fitness junkie!
This Potomac Mills restaurant has over 300 seats and two bars (with plans for lunch, dinner, and late-night food and beverage service). They also have a retail store with gifts and a license to sell all your favorite beverages!
