Planning a wedding, during a pandemic

If you are planning an event in today’s world, we applaud you as being a glass-half-full person, like our team! As you plan the guest list, the wedding party and pick out the dress, you’ll not want to put off the one-day alcohol license called a “Banquet License.” And a Banquet License allow persons or groups to host events such as wedding receptions, tastings or fundraisers, where alcohol is served in an unlicensed location or club premise for a private one-day event. Don’t assume your caterer has a license. Don’t assume your venue has a license. In fact, a banquet license is also needed for retirement parties, company celebrations, nonprofit events, festivals, concerts, auctions or political fundraisers. This application is conveniently online and you can find it here.

As you are filling out the application, pick the wrong type of license or leave a blank and that one mistake on your application can tie it up in red tape or even get the license denied. As you can see, obtaining a license in VA isn’t as easy as walking in a door, filling out an application and getting your license. It is a process – this licensing process takes time, attention to detail, document gathering, follow up, and several levels of review by the VA ABC Authority, before approval.

How can ABC Consulting help?

  1. We have a simplified, online form. Based on the information provided on the form, we determine which license type “of 8 different banquet licenses” you qualify for.
  2. We verify that a license is needed according to the venue. Is your venue already licensed? If so, does it have the proper license type needed for your type of event. For example: if you are having an event at a winery or brewery and wish to provide mixed drinks, then you will need to obtain a license.
  3. We ensure complete and accurate license application filing.
  4. We make sure you have your license (in hand or in your venue’s hand) before your event.

In Virginia, there is not a permanent wedding venue license. In almost all instances, a license is needed. We take the guess work out of the equation. Let ABC Consulting take this important element off of your wedding to-do list as you dance through the rest of your Wedding ToDo list.
