I often get questions about if you have a DUI, can you still get a license. Of course it is a case-by-case basis, but generally speaking, if you have had a DUI, it doesn’t prohibit you from getting a license. If you plan to be an ABC Manager, you must be approved by VA ABC before acting as an ABC Manager. And having a felony or DUI conviction may hinder that. Two reasons that could hold you back are if you were convicted in the last 5 years or if you received a felony conviction. Many people are charged with a DUI but the charges are dropped or reduced after conviction. The question on the application is “have you been convicted.” Obviously, each situation is different and I am happy to talk through your unique situation; feel free to give me a call.
